Euro-Tandem-Tour 2004

from 07th June until 17th June 2004

Berlin -	Prague -	Vienna -	Budapest

Dear Tandem-friends,

This circular is designed to present you the Tour 2004 from monday, 07th June until tuesday, 15th June 2004 - and you are invited to participate!

The project will be run on the same standard as in 2002. However, due to some financial challenges within the countries and communities and by some of our sponsors we had to adjust the scale and introduce a higher entry fee for the participants.

We need to lower the project costs (in 2002: € 100.000,00) to a total cost of only € 90.000,00. As the organization and execution costs will increase considerably compared to 2002, we have decided to limit the number of participants (in 2002: 78 persons) to 65 participants (30 tandems and 5 single cyclists).
At the same time we have adapted the entry fees to the new conditions, meaning € 300,00 for each participant and € 600,00 per tandem team.

The financing for this project will be as follows:

The number of escort vehicles will be reduced from 11 to 6and the number of escort persons will be limited to 2 persons per vehicle.
The total number of participants will amount to 85 persons (in 2002: 102 persons).

The modalites for awarding starting places:
The following places are already set: 2 tandem teams for Austria, 2 for the Czech Republic and 2 for Hungary.
The 5 single places will be awarded according to the booking date.
There remain 24 tandem places which will be awarded regardless of the nationality - only according to the booking date and the receipt of the entry fee on the following account:

Now some advance details to the Euro Tandem Tour 2004 - please note:

• The official date of arrival in Berlin is sunday, 6th June 2004.
• Each participant needs to organize himself his trip to Berlin and his return from Budapest (please make sure to also organize the transport of your tandem/bicycle yourself - thank you!).
• For planning your departure from Budapest, help can be obtained from
  Anton Fröhlich, phone: ++49 69 83 40 78 - he has a German-speaking contact in Budapest.
• The total length of the tour is approx. 1.100 km and will be cycled in 7 stages (120-160 km each).
• There will be a resting day in Prague and an adventure day in Budapest.
• The resting day in Prague is thursday, 10th June 2004.
• The official date of departure from Budapest is wednesday, 16th June 2004.

In February 2004, all participants will receive another circular with the logistics and all data concerning the tour.
The tour will be placed on the Internet in October 2003 with the names of all participants.
If the number of enrolments exceeds the number of starting places, we will also put a waiting list on the Internet, showing the waiting order as per receipt date of the enrolment.
